The story

Built in 1862 in Burlington, the canal boat O.J. Walker was caught by a severe wind storm on May 11, 1895. She began leaking badly, and as the crew took to a rowboat she tipped, spilling much of her cargo. Moving or removing artifacts, even bricks, is illegal.
